OTS is successful in providing operations and maintenance support through commissioning, start-up and into steady state operations. Current Projects

Northwest Redwater Partnership – Northwest Upgrader (2012 – Present)

OTS was contracted to develop a level 3 schedule for pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for the North West Upgrader project. The schedule is a required part of the EDS Gate Submission.

Suncor – Voyageur (2012 – Present)

OTS was contracted by Suncor to support the development of the pre-commissioning estimate for the Voyageur project, which is currently being constructed in Fort McMurray. OTS’ management and discipline coordinators collaborated with the Suncor Pre-commissioning team at the Suncor Energy Center located in Calgary to develop the estimate over the course of three. OTS has since been extended to provide updated scoping drawings for the project.

Suncor – MNU (2011 – Present)

OTS provided initial commissioning procedures for the naphtha unit and hydrogen plant. An OTS team is currently completing field walk downs and system status updates, and managing the cleaning process of plant equipment.

Hatch – Vale Inco Totten Mine (2011 – Present)

OTS was contracted by Hatch to develop a commissioning strategy and commissioning plan for the CSU of an Iron Ore Mine in Ontario. Current and on-going activities to reach the deliverables include; the development of a turnover system from construction to commissioning, system prioritizing, the development of turnover packages, the implementation of a commissioning management system for progress tracking reporting, and providing support to vendors for pre-start-up checks.

Suncor – Base Plant Operations – Procedure Review (2011 – Present)

An OTS operations group is currently reviewing and updating Suncor operations procedures.

Shell Albian Sands – Quality Surveillance Tailings Group (2010 – Present)

Shell has embedded an OTS Project Manager, Instrument/Electrical Quality Coordinator, and a Mechanical Quality Coordinator to oversee the construction of a tailings pond barge for Shell’s Albian Sands Project. OTS is responsible for ensuring that the end-product that Shell receives meets the standards and expectations they demand.

ExxonMobil – East Coast Canada (2007 – Present)

OTS is currently under a long-term contract with ExxonMobil to provide operations and maintenance support onshore and offshore for operations in Eastern Canada.

Weir – Suncor TRO Barge (2011 – 2012)

On a recommendation from Suncor, Weir engaged OTS to provide project assistance for three tailings-pond barges with the primary responsibility being management of offsite and onsite turnover to the client. Activities included: development of detailed tag lists by discipline, development and management of document and drawing control systems, management of both construction and final walk down(FWD) punches. These activities required extensive coordination with Suncor field engineering (FE) and field QA, as well as continuing operational coordination with Weir’s subcontractors.

Shell Albian Sands – Commissioning and Start-Up Management (2011 – 2012)

Shell has contracted OTS to provide CSU management services for all tailings projects at their Albian Sands Oil Sands Project in Northern Alberta. OTS is responsible for a range of activities including; preparation of pre-commissioning and commissioning procedures, preparation of CSU plans, provision of leadership and management to the commissioning teams, assist in the development and management of a CSU budget, management of site materials and logistics, coordination and management of contractor and subcontractor activities associated with pre-commissioning and commissioning, assist in operational readiness planning and project execution planning, and coordinate start-up activities with project management, engineering, construction, HSE, contractors, facility operations and start-up personnel.

Hatch – Thompson Creek Endako Mine (2011 – 2012)

OTS is currently providing field electrical and instrumentation support to Hatch’s commissioning team as well as electrical and instrument coordinators.

Hatch – Mosaic Esterhazy Mine K2 (2011 – 2012)

OTS provided Hatch with pre-commissioning and commissioning support for Mosaic’s Esterhazy K2 Expansion. Activities completed by OTS included the following; development of a CSU plan, development of person-power loading schedule, development of a turnover documentation tracking system, and the development and execution of a major shutdown of the full facility. The final turnover to the client was also completed by OTS.

OTS was also responsible for the planning and execution of a monthly shutdown to integrate a new line with the brown field plant.

Hatch – Barrick Gold – Pueble Viejo Gold Project (2011 – 2012)

OTS is currently providing Hatch with instrumentation support for the Pueble Viejo Gold Project in the Dominican Republic.

North Atlantic Refinery – Debottlenecking Project (2011)

OTS was under contract with North Atlantic Refining to provide training and maintenance support for their debottlenecking project in Come by Chance, Newfoundland.

Suncor – Treated Waterline Cleaning Project (2011)

OTS was awarded this scope of work by Suncor in early 2011 and it included activities remaining after the handover of Plant 39 from TransAlta to Suncor. For this project, OTS was responsible for the planning and execution of cleaning a treated waterline over 1 km in length.

Mosaic Belle Plaine – Commissioning and Start-Up Execution (2009 – 2011)

During the execution phase of commissioning at the Belle Plaine site, OTS worked closely with the construction management team to insure seamless turnover of systems from construction to commissioning. OTS monitored progress against existing person-hour estimates and budgets as the project progressed as well as documented any significant changes in the scope that affected the schedule and/or budget.

At the clients request OTS also staffed and operated a permit to work office.

TransAlta – Suncor Base Plant Operations (2008 – 2011)

OTS provided pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up of a 5kV, 800HP air compressor and all associated equipment.

Additionally, OTS provided pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up of the glycol cooling fans and all associated equipment as well as a new de-aerator system and all associated equipment and controls. OTS also developed the organizational document controls including organizing positions relevant to construction turnover.

OTS provided all pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up activities for a GE Water Plant including the development of all start-up and operations procedures and training manuals for the water treatment plant.

EnCana – Deep Panuke (2008 – 2011)

OTS was under contract to provide operations support to EnCana for their Deep Panuke offshore platform that is to be located off the south east coast of Nova Scotia.

Mosaic Belle Plaine – Commissioning Definition and Development (2009 – 2010)

OTS was contracted to provide the initial CSU definition plan, the CSU execution strategy and budget for Mosaic’s Belle Plaine Expansion Project in Saskatchewan. Mosaic was provided with deliverables that included; an execution strategy, an execution plan, a person-hour estimate, budget, completed tags list divided by priority and system, completed set of P&IDs marked up by system, start-up plans and risk assessments for each system along with work packs for each discipline.

The project was completed on time and on budget and as a result OTS was awarded the execution of the commissioning and start-up for the plant expansion.

Cenovus – Christina Lake Phase C (2009 – 2010)

OTS was contracted to provide Cenovus with an initial CSU definition plan, CSU execution strategy and budget for the Christina Lake Phase C Expansion Project. Cenovus was provided with an execution strategy, execution plan, person-hour estimate, budget, completed tags list divided by priority and system, complete set of P&ID’s marked up by system, start-up plans and risk assessments for each system. This project was completed on time and on budget.

Suncor – Syria Gas Plant (2009 – 2010)

OTS has previously provided instrument and electrical support to Suncor’s Gas Plant in Damascus, Syria.

CNRL – Horizon Phase 1 – Operations (2008 – 2009)

OTS provided operations support for CNRL at the Horizon Site for Utilities and Off Sites. Operations support was also provided to the permit office.

Kiewit – CNRL Horizon Phase 1 – (2008 – 2009)

OTS provided Kiewit with instrument and electrical pre-commissioning and commissioning support for the sulphur plant at CNRL’ Horizon Site.

Berry Y & V – CNRL Horizon Phase 1 – (2008 – 2009)

OTS provided Berry Y&V with instrument and electrical pre-commissioning and commissioning support for secondary upgrading at CNRL’ Horizon Site. OTS also provided support with DCS programming.

Nexen Long Lake – Pad 11 (2006 – 2009)

OTS was contracted to provide the initial CSU definition plan, the CSU execution strategy and budget for the Nexen Long Lake Pad 11 Project and awarded the CSU execution phase. This project included 10 well pairs (with ESP’s), blanket gas pipeline from well pad 9110, the flow lines to/from the central process facility (CPF) and the tie-in connections of the flow lines at the CPF. For the definition plan and execution strategy, OTS prepared the resource schedule and manpower estimates, defined systems, and identified 3rd party vendor services.

Prior to execution, OTS developed the CSU start-up procedures, performed risk assessments, prepared operation manuals and prepared the commissioning work packs for the execution. The execution phase included all pre-commissioning and commissioning checks for all disciplines (electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, DCS, Safety systems, Heat trace, etc.). OTS also managed the permit office and electrical lock out authority for the project. OTS assisted client operations in starting up and charging the system with steam.

Nexen Long Lake – Commercial Plant and Debottlenecking (2006 – 2009)

OTS was contracted to provide the initial CSU definition plan, the CSU execution strategy and budget for the Nexen Long Lake Debottlenecking project and was later awarded the CSU execution phase. During this project, OTS worked closely with both the construction management team and Nexen operations to meet the safety requirements for an operational plant. This was done while managing the scheduled completions dates for the CSU of the debottlenecking expansion and ensuring seamless handover to operations with minimal impact to production rates in the existing plant.

Throughout this process OTS ensured strict adherence to the overall budget. This included developing and overseeing the management of change process (MOC). OTS reported and tracked any additional work scope along with reporting existing budgeted items on a bi-weekly basis.

Nexen Long Lake – Long Lake South Phase 1 (LLSP1) (2006 – 2009)

OTS was contracted to provide Nexen with an initial CSU definition plan, a CSU execution strategy and budget for LLSP1. The LLSP1 development consisted of horizontal well pairs drilled from pads and linked to a central processing facility with steam generation, cogeneration, water treatment, and recycling.

Nexen was provided with an execution strategy, an execution plan, person-hour estimate, budget, completed tags list divided by priority and system, complete set of P&ID’s marked up by systems, start-up plans and risk assessments of each system. This project was completed on time and on budget.

Petro Canada – Terra Nova FPSO (2006 – 2009)

OTS was under contract to provide trades, technical personnel and long-term maintenance support to Petro Canada for their Terra Nova FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading).

GJ Cahill (2006)

OTS provided CSU management personnel to GJ Cahill Limited for the start-up and commissioning of ExxonMobil’s Sable Compression Platform offshore Nova Scotia.

Husky Energy – Searose (2005 – 2006)

OTS was previously under contract to provide project management personnel for ongoing operations and turnaround planning for the Sea Rose FPSO.

Aker Kvaerner Ltd. (2005)

OTS provided Aker Kvaerner with professional, technical, and trades personnel for the commissioning and start-up of the Sea Rose FPSO for Husky Energy’s White Rose field located off the east coast of Newfoundland.
